Sanctuary Cove

The Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove, Gold Coast

ABOUT SANCTUARY COVE

One word comes to mind when I think of the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort, and that’s ‘grand’. From the architecturally amazing wedding chapel and bespoke venues to 4.2 hectares of tropical gardens, lagoons and river views, couples always feel like royalty here. Another great thing about this venue is that you don’t have to leave. You can get dressed and made up on site, take amazing wedding photos all across the grounds, and even stay on for your honeymoon. If you’re after something a bit grand, read more about Sanctuary Cove.

Sanctuary Cove is very easy to get to, but it also seems secluded from it all because of its natural surroundings. It’s only one hour south of Brisbane, halfway between both the Brisbane and the Gold Coast airports. So you have all the fun of the Gold Coast theme parks, shopping, hinterland and beaches nearby – but it’s a totally relaxed and ambient location. (And anything that relaxes you on your wedding day is a good thing!)

You’ll have all the support you need to plan your wedding, as the venue provides a team of dedicated wedding planners to work with you on your vision. There are so many ceremony and reception options across the property that the sky really is the limit! I always enjoy exploring these grounds and finding new spots to capture unforgettable footage.

CEREMONY

The jewel in Sanctuary Cove’s crown is its award-winning wedding chapel. I’ve filmed in a few chapels in my career, and this is one of the most stunning on the Gold Coast. The floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking the Coomera River is an amazing backdrop for your ceremony. Inside, the chapel has white-tiled flooring, skey-high atriums and ivory pews. But while the chapel is stunning, you might prefer an outdoor wedding ceremony. You have several options here:

– The Fountain Terrace – a romantic, rippling fountain out in a private garden that gives your ceremony a tranquil feel
-The Lagoon Beach – a private beach with a sandy aisle, and views of palm trees and the saltwater lagoon
– The Marina Lawn – a natural sanctuary by the river with views of yachts and boats.

RECEPTIONS

Unlike many wedding venues, Sanctuary Cove doesn’t restrict you to one location for your reception. You have several choices depending on your wedding style and guest numbers. Firstly, you can use any of the above ceremony locations – including the chapel – as they’re all perfect for receptions as well.

There’s also:

– MacArthur’s Ballroom – a grand ballroom for larger numbers
-The Grange – a romantic and rustic dining room and bar for 80 to 170 guests
– Pergola Terrace – part of the Fountain Terrace for up to 40 guests
– The Fireplace – the resort’s signature restaurant – ideal for smaller receptions
– Garden Lounges – three intimate locations in the tropical gardens for up to 30 guests.

The venue encourages couples to style their reception to suit their own taste. Of course, the food is amazing. (A fun part of my job is taste-testing the food at 5-star venues like this one!) The menus are designed by award-winning Executive Chef Matt Hart. Each dish uses local produce and seasonal ingredients, so it’s always fresh, tasty and creative.

Sanctuary Cove is not the only spectacular wedding venue on the Gold Coast; there are plenty more. You have the beautiful rustic Chapel at Braeside. Or there is Kirra Hill Community centre and a fantastic DIY wedding venue near the beach. Maybe you could consider Cowbell Creek or Sol Gardens, both great options for an outdoor wedding. Or there is The Valley Estate or Austinvilla Estate, Venues where once you arrive you don’t have to leave, you and your guest get to enjoy the surroundings. “”I do not think there are even words to accurately convey how amazing Phil and his videography are. From the moment I booked Phil (over 18months us from our wedding) he was the ultimate friendly professional to deal with. On the day we barely noticed Phil as he quietly went about his business. We have only received our teaser trailer so far, and even if this were all we received it would be worth every cent and then some. I cannot stop watching as Phil has created magical memories of our fairy-tale day. Cannot wait to see the next instalment. Thanks, so much Phil! Highly recommend”” –
