Broadway Chapel is a historic church in the Woolloongabba suburb of Brisbane, Australia. The chapel was built in 1890 and has since undergone various renovations and upgrades to maintain its historical significance and charm.
The chapel features stunning stained glass windows, intricate woodwork, and a beautiful pipe organ. The chapel has a rich history and has been an essential part of the Woolloongabba community for over a century. It has survived various challenges, including a devastating fire in the 1960s, and has remained an important symbol of faith and community throughout its history.
Today, Broadway Chapel is an active church and community centre, providing a welcoming and inclusive space for people of all faiths and backgrounds to come together and celebrate life’s important moments.
Wedding Videography at Broadway Chapel
Broadway Chapel is a beautiful setting for weddings. However, there are few places where videographers can stand during ceremonies due to the limited space on the sides of the Chapel. Even though there is a balcony available for camera placement, it doesn’t offer full coverage of the room below due to obstructing light fixtures. What’s especially nice about this location for bridal parties is that one person can get ready at the back of the Chapel and step out when they are ready to begin their ceremony.
The Wedding Day
few days before the wedding it was raining. But when I woke up, it was a blue sky day, and it looked like perfect weather, and all that rain meant it would be a steamy day. The Broadway chapel at Woolloongabba is cute, no denominational place where everyone can get married. The groom has an area out the back of the Chapel to get ready. Matthew took advantage of the back room for us, the photo and video people. But to start this day, I met the boys at Vic Park to hit golf balls. I played off scratch back in the day, so we had a great time filming and giving a golf lesson.
I drove to the bottom of Kangaroo cliff, parked my car, and got an Uber to the Mantra on Quay in the city for Melissa’s prep. Melissa and Mathew are gentle souls, noting there was too much trouble, and the day flowed without issues.
Once Melissa was ready, I headed back to the Chapel to set up for the ceremony. Most of these little places have a vantage point upstairs, so I placed a camera up to run through the entire ceremony—the tradition when off without a hitch. My favourite rituals are when I get new and exciting readings that I love hearing, and I know I will use them in my films. You could feel the love these two have for each other. You could feel the warmth from them. Matthew was happy after the kiss when he did a fist pump!
After the family photos and formalities, we headed to Kangaroo cliffs for the images. We got there late, so we only got the last few rays of the sun. I got my drone out, a first for that location, so I got great footage of the city.
Reception Venue – Riverlife
River life is an excellent location for a wedding, and it’s easier to get there with close parking. But it is worth the effect, with many great spots to shoot. So they jumped at it when I suggested a walk along the boardwalk at night to Melissa and Mathew. And the shots we got speak for themselves. Speeches are crucial for weddings as I use them often for my films, and it is always great to hear heartfelt speeches from friends and family. And the groomsmen put on a real show.
This wedding film is one of my favourites of the year. It has got everything. Great vows. Great B roll, some great photo shoot images. There is a special connection between the couple, some fantastic speeches and beautiful nightlife. The Perfect wedding film
Wedding Videography at Broadway Chapel Riverlife
Riverlife is a stunning spot for taking photographs! Whether you prefer a photoshoot during the day or night, the boardwalk provides gorgeous backdrops to capture some amazing shots. While accessing Riverlife can be tricky due to limited parking, it’s worth the effort to get there. Daytime photoshoots do have their advantages, but if you really want to experience the full beauty of this area, nighttime is best.
